Overview

Graduand students of theatre must demonstrate their professional level capabilities in appropriate job roles within a professional project context. Students of acting, facilitation or a variety of inter-related creative roles need to assess the parameters of responsibility required for their professional contribution to an established project. They need to evaluate the skills, knowledge and processes required to fulfil their responsibilities, appropriately organise their time and individual circumstances and apply recognized professional techniques and processes to fulfil their obligations to the standard and in the manner established in project planning and subsequent processes of review. Through engaging in a professional standard project, students need to be proficient in self-initiated autonomous practice, and for applying collaborative skills and sensibilities at an industry entry-level within a context of sustainable wellbeing.

This course involves students negotiating/auditioning to engage with university and/or outside entity mounted and supported projects culminating in public/professional outcomes appropriate for their goals and mediums. Students may engage in live, digital, community engagement or corporate projects that provide them opportunity to apply their career path skills and knowledge to a professional level of practice. Students will complete a series of authentic assessment tasks based on industry practice in performance training linked to real-world industry training experiences. The projects may be produced and mounted on campus or be processed through off campus placements/secondments or online practice. Projects might have staff or guest professionals assigned to fulfil project roles or theatre staff may provide consultation and oversight of project processes planned and driven by student participants. School of Creative Arts will negotiate the details of planned projects on a yearly basis.
