  • The Undergraduate Certificate of Child and Family Studies gives you an entry point to working with children and their families.
  • It focuses on developing your knowledge of underpinning theory and practices to support wellbeing, and manage emotional and behavioural problems.

Further study

This certificate can provide an entry point and four units of credit towards the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or Bachelor of Education (Primary), which provides graduates with a qualification for teaching students in a classroom school settings. It can also give you credits towards the Diploma of Multidisciplinary Studies.

Entry requirements

Pre-requisites

To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

  • English (Units 3 & 4, C) 

We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12). Find out more about assumed knowledge.

  • Admission into this short program is available to eligible Commonwealth Support applicants, who are aged 17 years or over.

If you identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent you may be eligible to enter the Indigenous Higher Education (IHEPP) program.
