  • The Master of Engineering Practice (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) will make you eligible for Professional Engineer registration (MIEAust) with  if you meet the below criteria.
    • Graduated successfully from a three-year Australian undergraduate engineering degree in electrical engineering.
    • Graduated successfully from a degree that is equivalent to an Australian Bachelor of Technology (Electrical or Power Engineering) or Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering).
    • Over five years of relevant industry experience in Australia. 
    • Attained Engineers Australia TMIEAust Stage One Technologist accreditation. 
  • This program allows you to use the knowledge and skills you have already gained in the workplace to complete your first-year core units. Through self-assessment and workplace portfolios you will demonstrate how you may already meet Engineers Australia’s competencies and identify the technical courses you will need to complete in order to graduate. 
  • Available to study through distance education, the Master of Engineering Practice enables you to travel or work while studying and allows you to adapt your study to your life.
  • You will build upon your prior knowledge in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with advanced studies in areas including: engineering design, systems analysis and integration for application within a multi-disciplinary engineering industry environments.
  • Your capstone Master’s degree industry project is an opportunity to demonstrate advanced electrical and electronic engineering enterprise based innovation in your workplace or industry, and provides opportunity to fast-track career promotion on graduation.

The Master of Engineering Practice (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) has been accorded full accreditation at the level of Professional Engineer by .

As a graduate of the Master of Engineering Practice program, you will be eligible to apply for Professional Engineer (MIEAust) membership with . On attaining MIEAust, if you MEPR workplace portfolio indicates your work experience in your field may benchmark to equivalent to Stage 1 Experienced Professional Engineer, you will be able to accelerate your application for Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) Stage 2 Experience Professional Engineer.

You will also have the opportunity to work overseas, with your accreditation recognised in the countries that are signatories to the Washington Accord.

Entry requirements

  • Australian university three year Bachelor degree in engineering science or engineering technology in the relevant specialisation area, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years' relevant professional work experience.
  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident; citizen of New Zealand or holder of a 457 visa with a duration of at least three years.

English language requirements

You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 with a minimum 6.0 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests.

Residential schools

This degree has a mandatory attendance requirement for some of the residential and practical school courses.

If you are enrolled in the External study mode in this degree it is mandatory you attend on-campus for several residential schools, where you will attend face-to-face practicals and tutorials, use the facilities and meet staff and other students.

Residential schools are one week long intensive sessions held periodically across a program of study, and provided free to students to complete the practical requirements of their program.
