Elite Athlete Program
As a member of the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)'s Elite Athlete Friendly University (EAFU) Network, UniSQ provides specialised support services designed for students who deal with competing demands of sport and study, helping you achieve your full academic potential.
Support for Learning
We understand that competing, coaching, or officiating sport at the highest level takes a significant commitment of time and energy. To support our student-athletes, we offer a case management approach to assisting students to find flexible study, assessment and exam options as well as connecting students with key student support services at UniSQ, including career development services, learning support and wellbeing services.
What you'll get
By becoming a registered elite athlete, you'll have access to a range of support and academic services, including:
- access to dedicated athlete support services to help you through study including progression, assessment extensions and accessing student support services
- Fully subsidise registration for elite athlete students representing UniSQ at National sporting competitions
- Free UniSQ branded sports uniforms and teamwear for use at state, national and international sporting competitions
- Eligibility to apply for our Elite Athlete Scholarships
Eligibility
To be recognised by UniSQ as an Elite Athlete, you must be currently enrolled student at UniSQ and identified by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), state or territory institute or academy of sport or a relevant national association as outlined in the AIS Guiding Principles. Eligibility includes athletes, coaches, and officials.
If your circumstances fall outside these guidelines, you may still apply for consideration. Acceptance of applications outside of the above will be made at the University's discretion.
To keep the program current, eligibility and registration will be reviewed annually, including a yearly assessment for continued eligibility.
