Overview
Students entering tertiary study require an opportunity to master, practise and refine mathematical skills as pre-requisites for successful study. This course will provide students with the mathematics essential for tertiary studies in Bachelor of Construction, Bachelor of Science (Environment and Sustainability), Bachelor of Science (Physical Sciences), Bachelor of Health, Associate Degree of Construction, Associate Degree of Engineering and Associate Degree of Spatial Science. It also provides foundational material for further studies in pre-tertiary courses in mathematics and physics.
After a brief revision of the key topics covered in TPP0181, including basic algebra and functions, the course develops more advanced concepts in these themes, and then introduces exponential and logarithmic functions, matrices and trigonometry. The self-paced instruction allows students to develop confidence with mathematics, mathematical communication and general problem solving and provides students with the foundation skills to enable them to engage with the mathematical concepts encountered in the tertiary studies detailed above.
