Overview
Creative Arts researchers and practitioners develop, produce and promote original creative work in their specific field. This two-unit course is an opportunity for Honours students to engage in a piece of sustained and specific research in the Creative Arts - delivered as a dissertation or exegesis. SCA4001 enables students to develop and apply research skills and knowledge while producing their dissertation or exegesis with individual supervision - with the topic chosen by the student and the subsequent research outcomes developed in consultation with the supervisor.
This course, along with SCA4001 Honours Dissertation B, will enable students enrolled in the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Honours) program to design and complete an individual supervised research project. During this course, students will plan and write their exegesis or dissertation of 8,000 -12,000 words. Students will work closely with their supervisor to develop their exegesis or dissertation, involving the development and review of a research proposal, literature review and methodology, as well as the selection of theoretical or other disciplinary approaches as appropriate.
Once enrolled, students will proceed in either MODE 1 (for students commencing in the BCAH) or MODE 2 (students continuing/completing in the BCAH).
