Overview

This is the fourth course in the professional preparation program. Students will continue to develop capabilities in research and professional skills. Successful completion of this course will assist students in meeting the professional association's foundational and pre-professional graduate competencies.

This course further develops the research and critical thinking skills learned by students in other courses and also introduces students to the skills required to function effectively in mental health settings. With respect to the professional skills component, the course will introduce students to foundation intervention skills and models for therapeutic formulation and intervention. Students will be required to develop skills for thinking about issues that affect people, and to frame these within evidence-based approaches to psychological interventions. The Career Development Learning component engages students in a range of career development activities to prepare them for subsequent placements and/or employment.
