Overview

In Semester 3, 2023 this course will be delivered as a Transition (9 week) semester, commencing on 13 November 2023 and concluding on 12 January 2024.

The course is designed to introduce Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and provide a broad understanding of its capabilities to students.

Students enrolling in the GIS1402 course must be proficient in operating computer systems (e.g. Windows) and they must be able to download and install GIS software on their personal computer.

The course will cover the basic concepts and principles of geographic information systems (GIS). Topics to be covered include the fundamentals of GIS and GIS data quality and implementation issues.
