Overview

This course consolidates your primary curriculum specialisation studies as a primary or early childhood pre-service educator. The course equips you to teach in each of the learning areas of the primary school curriculum, as well in a subject specialisation. This advanced specialisation course extends your primary curriculum specialisation with the aim of developing the necessary tools to use your expert knowledge in your chosen curriculum area to inclusively meet the needs of diverse students.

This course introduces an evidence-based framework that teaches you how to establish diverse and inclusive classrooms. You will address three significant areas; working with children with special needs, working with children who are EALD learners and working with children who are gifted and talented. In each module of the course, you will learn to, directly and explicitly, apply advanced content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge and highly effective classroom teaching of your chosen primary curriculum specialisation.
