  • UniSQ's Bachelor of Aviation allows you to prepare for a career in an exciting and fast-paced industry, with the option to take various study paths depending on your interest area. Kickstart your career in the skies and train to become a pilot by undertaking our Flight Operations major. Or be in the heart of the action by exploring an exciting ground breaking role with our Aviation Management major.
  • From the onset, you’ll undertake aviation specific courses and have the opportunity to study areas such as aviation safety systems, human performance in aviation, aviation business and aircraft operations. 
  • Students undertaking the Flight Operations path will gain professional pilot qualifications issued by the . 
  • Our professional development program forms part of each of your university courses and you will receive credit towards your degree. 
  • You will learn from current and former airline, military and instructor pilots, and aviation managers who are not only highly-acclaimed academics but professionals in the aviation field.
  • See and experience the aviation industry first-hand by flying in our world-class flight simulators in your first year of study! The first of their kind in Queensland, UniSQ’s simulators are designs based on Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircrafts.  These simulators are able to replicate an entire flight, both normal and abnormal scenarios, while completing checks and procedures just like airline pilots do.
  • Have the opportunity to be considered for the , with access to experienced pilots during your degree. Selected students will be invited to complete an intensive twelve week Airline Transition Course. Upon successful course completion, graduates will transition to employment with QantasLink and complete their training under the supervision of QantasLink’s experienced training team and become qualified as First Officers flying the airline’s Dash 8 200/300 or Q400 fleet. To be eligible to be considered for the program, students need to hold a GPA of 4.0 or above for the duration of their studies, and Australian work rights.

What is the Bachelor of Aviation ATAR needed to study at UniSQ?

ATAR is the primary criteria to assess and compare results of high school students for entry into an undergraduate university degree.

To study a Bachelor of Aviation you need a minimum ATAR as well as assumed knowledge in English and mathematics. ‘Assumed knowledge’ is the term we use to explain the minimum level of knowledge we presume you have in some subjects before you start your degree. 

If you haven’t got an ATAR, don’t worry. We can derive a rank based on any previous studies, work experience or professional qualifications.

What are the Bachelor of Aviation entry requirements?

To be considered for entry into a Bachelor of Aviation, you must meet specific entry requirements including ATAR, pre-requisites and assumed knowledge.

To study Flight Operations you will also have to obtain a Class 1 medical certificate and UniSQ aviation uniform.

If you don’t meet the Bachelor of Aviation entry requirements, a UniSQ Ready program can be completed in as little as one semester and can provide entry into a Bachelor of Aviation.

What additional training is required to become a pilot in Australia?

After completing your first year of UniSQ’s Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Operations) you can undertake formal flight training with an applicable VET registered education provider to become a pilot and obtain your Commercial Pilot License (CPL). 

Once you have completed your flight training, the will issue your CPL.

How long does a Bachelor of Aviation take?

A Bachelor of Aviation degree will take you approximately three years to complete. Some students choose to study part-time which increases the time it takes to finish the required courses. You have a maximum of six years to complete the degree.

Can I study an online aviation bachelors degree?

You can study UniSQ’s undergraduate Bachelor of Aviation on your own terms, in your own time. Many students study Aviation full-time, however, you have the option to study part-time which allows you to balance your life, work and family commitments. 

Our Aviation Management bachelor degree courses are all studied on-campus, giving you your first foray into the sky as a pilot. If you choose to study Flight Operations you have the option to study your 3rd year online, with the first 2 years on-campus.
